How the explanatory content on this site is produced and maintained.

Purpose of guides

Guides exist to help you understand the formats and concepts behind a tool – for example why JSON fails to parse or why a CSV opens incorrectly. Each guide links to the relevant tool and each tool page documents its own limits.

Standards we follow

  • Technical statements are based on the published specifications (such as RFC 8259 for JSON and RFC 4180 for CSV) or on documented behaviour of browsers.
  • Examples are checked against the tool before publication.
  • We do not publish invented statistics, testimonials, credentials or claims of independent audits.
  • Content is written to help readers, not to target search keywords.
  • Each guide shows a “last updated” date.

How we source prices and model data

Every price, context limit and model specification used by a tool is stored with the URL of the official provider page (or the model’s config.json) it was read from and the date it was checked. A value that cannot be verified from an official source is left out. An automated check fails the build when any value is more than 30 days old, and re-checks and changes are logged in thechangelog.

How we test tools

Calculation and conversion logic is deterministic code covered by automated unit tests, and every worked example on a tool page is generated by that same logic when the site is built. Browser tests exercise each tool and check accessibility. Tests reduce the chance of mistakes but do not prove there are none; results marked “estimate” are estimates.

Tools and AI

Tools use deterministic code. They do not send your input to an AI service. Where AI assistance is used to draft site code or text, the result is reviewed and tested by the site owner before publication; the owner remains responsible for it.
